Nashville fishing guides FAQs

🎣 What should I bring on a fishing trip?

Please bring a valid Tennessee fishing license for all anglers ages 13 and up. Dress for the weather and bring essentials such as:

  • Sunscreen and polarized sunglasses

  • Snacks and drinks

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Non-marking shoes

We provide all rods, reels, tackle, bait, life jackets, and a cooler for storing your fish during the trip.

Do I need to bring my own rods, reels, or bait?

No. All equipment is provided, including quality rods, reels, tackle, and bait. Simply show up with your fishing license and whatever food or drinks you prefer.

How long are your fishing trips?

We offer 3-hour, 4-hour, and 5-hour guided trips:

  • 3-Hour Trip — Great for families, kids, or anyone looking for fast action.

  • 4-Hour Trip — Our most popular option, offering the best balance of time and productivity.

  • 5-Hour Trip — Ideal for maximizing opportunities and fishing multiple feeding windows.

Are your trips family-friendly?

Absolutely. We welcome families, children, beginners, and seasoned anglers. Our captains are patient teachers and make the experience enjoyable for everyone.

Are the charters private, or will we be grouped with others?

All of our fishing trips are 100% private charters. You will never be grouped with other parties.

Do you guarantee that we will catch fish?

While no guide can guarantee fish every outing, we pride ourselves on our ability to consistently find and catch fish. With experienced captains, advanced electronics, and proven techniques, we put you in the best possible position for success.

Can we keep the fish we catch?

Yes, you may keep your catch within Tennessee’s legal limits. However, we strongly encourage catch and release to help protect the fishery and ensure healthy populations for future anglers.

Please be aware:

  • There are no fish cleaning stations on Percy Priest Lake.

  • Insurance regulations require any fish cleaned by a guide to be processed at a certified facility.

Because of these rules, we do not offer fish cleaning services. If you plan to keep fish, please bring a cooler to transport them home after the trip.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions become unsafe—such as lightning, high winds, or severe storms—we will reschedule or postpone your trip. Light rain and overcast skies typically do not stop the bite, but your captain will make all safety decisions.

When is the best time of year to fish Percy Priest Lake?

Fishing is productive year-round. Hybrid and striped bass often school heavily during the fall and winter months, making this a prime time for fast action and big fish. Warmer months offer exciting topwater opportunities and great consistency for families.
